Write or Wrong?

We were alerted. AI was going to be everywhere, like it or not. But to what extent was/is the question. I recently got introduced to ChatGPT (Generative Pre-Trained Transformer), a chat bot launched by OpenAI. Suffice it to say that I’m in shock. Not because how quickly it answers any question but how it can provide any creative piece like a poem, an essay or even a story with any given parameters in an instant.

Will anyone ever bother about writing a sentence after this? Why waste our brain cells on coming up with words, sentence structures, and thoughts? Someone or rather something else is generating ideas according to our specifications. Will writing become obsolete or precious?

Why AI why?

Remember we assign more value to handmade stuff when factory-produced goods take over. Imagine reading these words next to a poem: Truly-experienced, brain-processed, Neuron-infused, Humanly-written!

Do you even realize how hard it is to write a sentence let alone a thought-provoking one? I’m hopeful that you will be good only at regurgitating facts even if it is in poetic form. I’ve tested you and think that there is still hope for creative people who see connections between ideas and things that no AI can see. Am I being delusional? I am not ready to write a eulogy for writers. I bet you have one ready, eh?!

Gosh, here it goes, thanks ChatGPT!!!

Dear friends and colleagues,

We have gathered here today to celebrate the life and work of our beloved writers. Whether they were poets, novelists, playwrights, or journalists, these individuals dedicated

their lives to the craft of writing. Through their words, they gave voice to the experiences, emotions, and ideas of people from all walks of life. They captured the beauty of the world around us and shed light on the issues that matter most. They told the stories that needed to be told,

and in doing so, they enriched our lives and expanded our understanding of the

human condition.

But writing is not an easy career. It requires discipline, perseverance, and a willingness to face

rejection and criticism. Our writers did all of this with grace and dedication, always striving to improve their craft and share their vision with the world. We are grateful for the legacy they have left behind. Their words will continue to inspire and uplift us for generations to come.

Let us honor their memory by following in their footsteps and continuing to tell the stories that need to be told.

Rest in peace, dear writers. Your words will live on forever.
